advanced glycation end product

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) are the production of Maillard reaction between carbohydrates and proteins. They cause neurotoxicity via production of ROS followed by an increase in expression of APP and amyloid beta. Recent analysis implicates them in tau phosphorylation.
